Our BFI Academy students are encouraged to develop, film and edit at least one short film during their course, which enables them to gain on-set experience, learn from industry mentors and have a completed film to utilise for future showreels and portfolios. Two of our BFI Film Academy films were selected for the Made in Wales showcase by Ffilm Ifanc in 2022, a young programmers initiative run by young people for those aged 18 – 26. Two more of our BFI Film Academy films from 2023 were screened at the BFI Future Film Festival at Chapter in February 2024.
