Bulldozer Films is proud to have been the regional lead for the BFI Film Academy Short Courses in Wales in 2025.
Last year, filmmaking short courses by Bulldozer Films were delivered in Cardiff, Swansea and Aberystwyth, with our partner, TAPE Music And Film, delivering a course in Colwyn Bay. For more information about courses in North Wales, please follow this link: TAPE.
The five day courses were available to successful applicants free of charge, and provided insight into the production process of a short fiction film. Scripts were submitted by our previous alumni and developed alongside Thomas Rees, a BAFTA Cymru winning writer. Each course allowed students to experience developing a script, preparing a shoot, filming to a schedule and post production, providing an overview of the entire process. We partnered with universities across Wales to enhance our tutoring and gain access to industry level facilities and equipment, and secured industry professionals such as Al Kang (Doctor Who), Marc Evans (Mr Burton), Philip John (Downtown Abbey), Adam Knopf (Lost Boys & Fairies) to provide their valuable insight.

Every BFI Film Academy student is encouraged to undertake at least one role as they develop, film and edit short film(s) during their course, ensuring they gain on-set experience, learn from industry mentors and have a completed film to utilise for future showreels and portfolios. Two of our BFI Film Academy films were selected for the Made in Wales showcase by Ffilm Ifanc in 2022, a young programmers initiative run by young people for those aged 18 – 26. Two more of our BFI Film Academy films from 2023 were screened at the BFI Future Film Festival at Chapter in February 2024. In 2025, GHOSTED was showcased as part of Chapter Moviemaker. From 2025, all BFI Film Academy films across Wales, alongside selected alumni work is screened for attendees, filmmakers and industry guests during a bespoke session at Cardiff Mini Film Festival.
Bulldozer Films is proud to be an NCFE approved Learning Centre.
